String Whistle are Dave Rickard (keyboards, guitar, vocals) and Rob Mitchell (whistles, woodwind, flutes, recorders, vocals).

Their repertoire has always been an eclectic mix, there are few styles of music that they do not embrace. Their live performances are full of fun, energy and witty repartee - in a phrase 'good old fashioned entertainment'.

Jazz At The Barge (with Jazz Faction)
close

Every second Wednesday of the month with The Jazz Faction - guest musicians welcome.

The Jazz Faction is a Medway Towns band formed out of sheer desperation of the fact that nobody else wanted to play jazz stuff with these 4 misfits.

Unfortunately fate played a part in throwing them all together and producing the result of a musical mayhem of jazz standards that have been altered beyond recognition. The band also has its own compositions for which the plagiarism police are listening out for... look out Alfie they're onto you!

The band consists of Alfie Cooke on Double Bass, his brother Scott Cooke on Saxes, Emitt Kyle on Percussion and Fat Boy Slim Pete Weller on Guitar (the 'Slim' refers to the guitar only).

See The Jazz Faction on YouTube.

Chris Berry and Dave Ferra combine to produce some authentic good-time blues music with a feel of New Orleans and Beyond.

"Some Really fine acoustic blues and refreshing to hear something that’s not heavy duty Delta style. Jaunty and enjoyable and worth looking into." (Blues in Britain magazine)

Mick West & Frank McLaughlin (Scotland)
close

Mick West and Frank McLaughlin combine one of the best voices in Scotland with a superb guitarist to produce a sound rooted in the tradition but not confined by it. They have been described as "a must for any fan of Scottish song". On hearing Mick's performance on his recent cd , U.S. magazine Sing Out stated "why is this man not a household name..?" Frank McLaughlin provides a perfect backdrop to Mick's voice, exploring the world of Scot's song with creative arrangements on guitar. "A richly talented duo with a deep knowledge of their craft."

"One of Scotland's most lyrical folksong exponents" - Sue Wilson, Scotland on Sunday

"West is a wonderful singer with a big, rich, warm expressive voice - in approach and stature somewhat of a Scottish Christy Moore" - Norman Chalmers, The List

Recently voted "Best unsigned acoustic act" for 2006, Bessie Sayce and Pierre Vincent are original, charismatic, eccentric (note Bessie's trademark six-inch platform boots!) and are sometimes labelled "new folk". They play mainly their own material and a few carefully chosen covers.
