Welcome to The Barge, Medway's best-kept secret.

Tucked away in a quiet corner of Gillingham, Kent, The Barge is a cosy, friendly watering hole with a lot to offer:

  • Regular live music events... folk / blues / jazz / acoustic
  • Regular 'open-mic' acoustic jam nights
  • Weekly quiz night every Sunday at 8.30 - cash prizes
  • Real Ale - guest beers and regular brews always available
  • Candlelight atmosphere
  • Pool & darts, and a selection of traditional board games
  • Large family garden with great river views
  • Comfortable sheltered & heated smoking area

See the about us page for more details.

Music and Ale are always the mainstays of the pub. Friendship is also a major ingredient in what makes this place unique - as the sign behind the bar says:

"There are no strangers here, only friends who have not yet met"

Hugo (USA)
close

New York based rock/pop pianist Hugo will be touring across the UK for the first time this Autumn/winter.

Hugo was born in Chicago and started learning piano at the age of five. Influenced by a diverse range of musicians from Elton John and Billy Joel to Ben Folds and Elvis Costello the sound that eventually matured is an indie-pop piano-rock vibe.

Playing across the USA from NYC to LA with multiple east coast, south and midwest tours, as well as TV shows including performing live nationwide on FUSE and song placements with MTV’s The Real World, Hugo’s two EPs and full length album have met strong critical praise with Time Out NY noting the clever wordplay and production making comparisons to Todd Rundgren and Joe Jackson.

Website Outage [posted on 06/08/2009] close

The Barge website was offline for around 12 hours yesterday (Tuesday 5th August), from 2pm to 2am (ish).

This was due to unidentified gremlins in the inter-tubes.

Apologies to anyone who was trying to connect, I lost all connectivity as well, and it felt like loosing a limb, but it wasn't my fault ;-)

Matt.
